Hi, I’m Caren and I’ve been there….


Have you ever felt like your life was running you, that you weren’t running your life? I have, in fact, I did for many years. I yo-yo dieted, read every self help book out there and still a vibrant life was always just out of reach. With every diet success came eventual failure. I often felt that if I would just get to my “ideal” weight my life would be happy and I would have everything I ever desired. Instead of feeling this happiness that I craved I ate myself into a state of unhappiness. My unhealthy lifestyle was the only life I knew.  When I looked in the mirror I was disappointed with the image I saw. Disappointment eventually led to self hate. What I needed was a wake up call. I needed to change my life, I wanted a more vibrant life. It turned out, I got more than I bargained for….


I Woke Up

My wake up call finally came after I realized that for years I was living an unhealthy lifestyle with poor nutrition, no physical activity and a very poor outlook, that I wasn’t in charge of my life.  I was going through my whole life with blinders on, I couldn’t see the reality, even when I stood in front of the mirror. I had become blind to the woman staring back at me. Sound familiar? I finally saw the need for positive change.  I decided it was time to get healthy. Around that time I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. After extensive research I discovered the weight gain, the aches and pains and a myriad of other symptoms needed to be managed.

At the same time, I realized that I was suffering from body image issues. I was unable to accept the body I lived in. I discovered I had put my life on hold, waiting for the weight to come off, to have the great body. Nothing good was going to happen until I had weight came off. Something had to give. I wanted what so many other women I knew had, happiness. These women came in all shapes and sizes. It was an arduous journey to realize it wasn’t about being thin, it was about being healthy. It was about learning to manage my autoimmune disease(s). It was time to take back my health. To finally have a healthy mind AND body.  It took a lot of determination, but I finally learned how to establish a healthy lifestyle reinforced with good nutrition and a positive lifestyle. I live with autoimmune disease, I control it, it doesn’t control me.


During these changes I realized I wanted to share what I had learned, what I knew to be true and help others live a more positive, healthy lifestyle. I knew I could relate to others that were going through the very same struggles I went through. Having experienced the highs and lows of weight loss and eventual gain again,  coupled with the ups and downs in my personal life, I knew that I wasn’t alone.  I finally had a vision for wanting to help other women want to get healthy, not just in their body, but in their lives. The desire to share what I learned along the way was transitioning into a whole new way of living for me. I knew it was time to help other women.  That is when I made the decision to go to school and get formal training and certification in nutrition, life coaching and  lifestyle management. I knew that what I did worked for me, and now it was time to learn how to make it work for others.

 My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, life coaching  and life management. Drawing on these skills and the knowledge of different health theories and lifestyle coaching practices, I work with clients to help them make changes that produce real and lasting results.

 I practice a holistic approach to my coaching practice, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or poor self image prevent you from enjoying daily activities?  Do you feel like you are unable to manage life’s daily tasks? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your life as a whole.
